Care of your furniture

From time to time your furniture will need a little care. We recommend pine furniture is waxed with Hannant's antique brown soft wax polish (made with natural raw materials) and a lint free cloth. Oak furniture will also need an occasional oil we recommend Briwax all types of wood furniture oil wiped on with a lint free cloth. Both are available in the shop. Besides protecting the surface, oil/wax will enhance the colour, adding depth and lustre to the finish. There are no rules, but areas of heavy usage such as tables or the tops of chests will benefit from frequent more applications. Never place hot dishes directly onto any wooden surfaces and always removes spillages immediately with a damp cloth. To prevent cracking and deterioration of colour avoid exposure to strong heat and direct sunlight.
